Most people shudder with anxiety when presented with an everyday math problem. Most of us have terrible memories of sitting in elementary school and not having a clue what the teacher was talking about. If you think you are bad in math, relax. With the proper application of mind power, you'll be able to expand your subconscious mind power and easily become exceptionally skilled in mathematics.

Most of us immediately feel anxious and nervous when recalling how it was to learn mathematics in school. However, this is natural when learning a new subject. When you learn any subject that you aren't familiar with, there is always going to be confusion and anxiety. When you learn something effectively, the anxiety leads to curiosity, which then turns into discover and learning.

For many of us, however, learning mathematics never got past the stage of frustration and anxiety. Believe it or not, there is a math genius inside every one of us. Even if you only want to be able to calculate a tip, or balance your finances every month, you already have what it takes to release your inner genius.

The problem is whenever we find ourselves facing a mathematical problem, we immediately recall those times when we couldn't understand long division to save our life. But when was the last time you actually needed to do long division in real life? Sure there are times when you need to split the bill, or figure out how many ice cream bars you can buy with the money in your pocket, but these are much simpler problems.

The trick is to detach those memories of painful elementary school learning from everyday mathematical situations. Most of us have a calculator function on our cell phones anyway. Once you detach those old memories from current situations, you'll feel comfortable, competent, and at ease whenever a mathematical situation arises.

How do you do that?

Simple. Develop a set of positive, present tense statements, or affirmations, that describe your ideal mathematical self. Here are some to get you started:

Math is easy. I am skilled in math. I've always been good at math. I calculate figures quickly and easily.

Go over these a few times and come up with some that are just right for you and make sense on a personal level. Once you've got your list, then simply get into that sleepy, drowsy state you are in right before you drift off to sleep at night. As you slip into that lazy, dreamy state of mind, repeat these statements several times, slowly and quietly. Say them as if they are really true. Say them as you appreciate them being really true. After only a week or so, you'll begin to become more and more confident with your growing skills in mathematics.
