Stop Termites In Their Tracks With High Tech Methods

Although we are all familiar with the ubiquitous termite and the damage it can do to our properties, we often do not know which types of treatments are the best. Pest control services will offer all kinds of promises but some come up a little short while trying their best to cure the problem.

Indeed, it used to be that the only method that they had in their armory was to dig big holes and pour in enormous amounts of toxic chemicals. This trench, which had to encircles the infected building and would damage the gardens and totally disrupt the lives of anyone working or living in the vicinity. However, since people got fed up with this kind of methodology, new systems have been developed to make life a whole lot simpler.

Instead of digging the huge trench, long tube like structures are sunk into the ground. These feeding stations are used to put in specialized poison bate which the creatures find irresistible. They pick up the poison and carry it off to the main nest so that eventually the queen herself will be killed off. Once she is dead it is really only a matter of time before the colony is defunct since they workers and gatherers will no longer be able to operate.

This system has many benefits over the usual methods of getting rid of damaging infestations. There is low chemical use, gardens and surrounding are not disrupted and the whole system can be monitored by computer. By using this method the whole history of how the creatures are taking the food, which directions they are coming from and how the system is being utilized will be ascertained. Indeed, it is more cost-effective too since little bait will be used and only where it is necessary.

This great system is wonderful if the building itself or the gardens surrounding it are of historical and emotional value. Imagine trying to dig up the gardens of the White House and see how people would react. Even those gardens which house rare species are usually disturbed so this method will surely be the right one.

Anyone who has had the opportunity to visit a national monument in the past several years will surely be aware of some small disc like protrusions in the sidewalks. These are the feeding tubes in situ and if they are good enough for this purpose then they should be good enough for anyone for sure. Of course, placing them in concrete or cement takes a little longer but the end result will be exactly the same.

Most buildings these days, when they are being erected, will have some treatment incorporated in them to prevent infestation. However, these treatments do not last forever and when they have to be renewed it often involves drilling down into the foundations themselves. If the tubes are put in some time before any infestation is spotted, it may be unnecessary to have any of the drilling work done at all. The tubes themselves will form an impenetrable circle around the building which is hard to get past for sure.
