Stay Relaxed And Comfortable Running By Using An Anti Chafing Cream

An anti chafing cream for runners provides excellent lubrication to prevent blisters and chafing, even when the weather is scorching. These creams are odorless and non-greasy so your clothes will not stain. Chafing is a nightmare for every runner and it can be so bad that performance is affected.

When two parts of the body rub together, chafing occurs. For a runner, the most susceptible areas are between the thighs, under the arms, on the nipples (men and women), and in the groin. Sweating only makes it worse. Despite what many people think, chafing does not only affect obese people. Even the thinnest of runners, cyclists, and athletes suffer with it.

Chafing can be prevented by four methods, namely stay dry, stay hydrated, wear appropriate clothes, and use an anti chafing cream for runners. It doesn't matter whether you are a recreational or professional runner, these principles apply. Drinking plenty of water will keep you hydrated before you run, during the run, and after the run.

A well-hydrated body produces perspiration with less salt. When it dries, it does not leave a large amount of salt crystals which often enhance chafing by causing friction. Therefore, if you use an anti-chafing cream and drink lots of water, you are going to have a more comfortable run.

Correct clothes also prevent chafing. While loose-fitting clothing is preferable for hiking and trailing outdoors, it is not suitable for running. You should wear a snug-fitting pair of bicycle shorts that will help prevent chafing. The upper body should be clothed in a polypropylene or lycra tight-fitting top.

Female runners should avoid wearing bras with traditional straps. Apart from slipping off the shoulders, they can initiate chafing. A sports bra with thick straps and a T-back is the answer. The thicker straps help with weight distribution and prevent the bra from cutting into the skin.

Male runners who wear incorrect clothing are at risk of a chafing-related condition called jock-itch. The genitals become red and inflamed and cause a burning rash that travels down the inner thighs. This very distressing condition can be avoided by wearing tight-fitting cycling shorts.

If chafing has occurred, treat it like any open wound. Wash it with an antiseptic to avoid infection and cover the area with gauze so it can breathe. Prevention is always better than cure, so be sure to use anti chafing cream for runners before you go for your next run.
