In a couple of years, you should be able to save more than the cost of the increased deductible. Find out which insurance discounts you could qualify for now, and which would be fairly easy to qualify for later. Some inexpensive upgrades, like home security systems or fire alarms, can cut 5 percent to 20 percent off of your monthly bill. One of the easiest ways to save money on home policies is by shopping the market for them. The insurance business is very competitive these days. There may be another competitive insurer who can cut you a better deal to gain your business. In fact, experts tell us to shop around for better insurance deals every year or so. This is because some things may change in our own lives that affect rates, but also because the insurance market changes all the time. You may have gotten a great price from one insurer a few years ago. But they may not offer the best deal today.
