Did you know that you may be eligible for low cost auto insurance? According to the auto insurance California law, there are a few criteria to fulfill and if you pass it you could enjoy discounted rate insurance for your auto. The amount you would be required to pay for your car insurance would be under four hundred dollars annually. The following are the eligibility criteria that are required to be fulfilled: 1. Income eligibility -- there are ceilings upon the income of your family depending on the number of people in your family consists of. Hence, if you live alone, your income should not exceed $25,525 per year. For two people, the maximum income would be $34,225, for four people, $51,625 and for a six-member family the income bar is set at $69,025. 2. Driving record -- you should have an impeccable driving record and not have any penalty for at least three years before you put in your application for the discounted car insurance policy. Your license should be at least three years old as well. 3. Value of the car you are driving -- in order to apply for the low rate insurance your vehicle should not cost more than $20,000. If this is more, it is assumed that you would not need concessions from the Government for insurance. 4. Age limit -- there is no such criteria on age. However, if you are a male aged between nineteen and twenty-four the insurance cost would be slightly higher since most accidents involve people belonging to this demographic profile. After you complete twenty-five years of age -- there would be no bar or restriction for the concession rate applicable. 5. Place of residence -- not all the counties offer this benefit to their citizens. To be eligible you should be a resident of one of the fifty-eight counties that offer this relief to its citizens. For information on which counties are eligible, check out the Government website of the state of California. 6. The coverage offered -- while it is true that such discounted rate would benefit those who are economically challenged, the coverage is not optimal. The insurance does not offer physical damage coverage and the liability limits are fixed at $10,000 for body injury or death per person, $20,000 for body injury and only $3000 for property damage. If you think that you could be eligible for this benefit, contact the California Auto Assigned Risk Program at a toll-free number and ask for details about the formalities to be filled in for obtaining a quote under this program. It might not be the best option, but it definitely is better than no option at all. The fact that the State of California recognizes that some people are too economically challenged to afford the regular car insurance policy is commendable. It is a good idea to take advantage of this offer and apply for this benefit.
