If you have a responsive list, you already have your foot in the door, and this will lead to sales later on. Whether selling on or off line, you will always need to get your foot in the door before you can make a sale. A lot of sales people who are selling products off line use this tactic. For instance if someone were trying to sell you a gym membership, they wouldn't knock at your door and say, 'would you like to buy a membership?A better technique would be to ask some questions or get you to fill out a survey and then offer you a free workout for your trouble. It works the same with internet marketing. If you build a list, you effectively have your foot in the door. Once you have permission to send someone email, you can offer them advice, titbits of useful information, and of course promote your product line. If you make sure to always give something of value and genuine interest to your reader, you will always 'have your foot in the door.' In this way you will always have the opportunity to make money again and again. Another great way to make sales online once you have your list in place is to ask questions or tell stories that will need your reader to read the rest of the copy to get the answer. Most people hate to leave a question unanswered, and will read something just to get the answer, whether or not they are interested in the question. Listen to the radio or watch TV. How often do you see this tactic used. Someone will ask a trivia question, and then say stay tuned for the answer. Many people will sit and watch just to see what the answer is, regardless if the program that they are watching is even vaguely interesting. If you review a product, you need to give some very good reasons why your customer should buy your product. People hate being wrong and admitting to error, so they tend to check out the facts rather carefully before buying anything. Even if they were wrong, they will come up with a bunch of excuses why they weren't. So make sure to supply enough compelling reasons why your product is the right choice, so that your customer can justify in his mind why he is making the purchase. Using the above tactics is a surefire method to getting sales if you give it some thought and learn how to use these tactics effectively.
