After investing all of that money in a new roof, you may be reluctant to spend any more. However, rain gutters are something on which you should be willing to spend money. They not only keep water runoff from spilling all over, they also protect your home's roof, foundation and other areas. Gutters help direct the flow of water away from vulnerable parts of your home - including its roof. Indeed, any decent roofing contractor will tell you that no roof is truly complete without a decent set of gutters. Without gutters, excess water can run off and wreak havoc on various parts of the house. When gutters aren't in place, water runoff can cause flooding in basements. Just because you have them installed doesn't mean that you don't have to worry about them anymore. At minimum, you should thoroughly clean out your gutters two times per year. If you notice issues with water runoff, spot cleanings may also be needed. Having a gutter guard is one valuable option, as having these can help keep your gutters free from debris. At any rate, a house without gutters - or clean gutters - is in serious jeopardy.
