Make sure you closely examine the general insurance policy and check what coverage is available for damaged, lost or stolen cameras and whether the policy applies for both in-airport handling and at your travel destination. Keep your camera safe from being damaged by the elements Unpredictable weather can be one of the biggest threats to your camera while traveling. Protecting your camera from harsh weather conditions is imperative. A cybershot case or sealed plastic bag should be used to prevent your camera from water exposure and other unfavorable weather elements. If you notice any condensation building up on the surface of the camera or inside it, stop using it until you are able to get back indoors. Be sure that correct and proper contact info can be found somewhere on your camera Just in case your camera is lost, make sure you have your name and phone number on both the camera and the camera case. Maybe you can put a sticker on your camera or your bag with your contact information and/or even the name of the hotel in which you're staying, if applicable. If you don't want to stick anything on your camera, you can simply take a photo of a piece of paper filled with similar information and make sure it is on the first frame of the memory card. Consequently, doing this will ensure that anyone who finds or picks up your camera and turns it on will see an image and know it belongs to you. Only take your camera out when you need to use it It is good common sense to keep your digital camera concealed from view while you are out and about. Keep it inside your bag and take it out only when you use it. Buy the proper equipment and follow common sense tips to protect your expensive camera.
