How Safe Are Your Children -- 5 Aspect That You Should Pay Attention To Early

Most children love bunk beds for it gives them a sense of adventure and fun. Most parents love bunk beds for it saves space and provides children with privacy that is so much-needed during growing years. Both parents and children love bunk beds once they are made safe by incorporating safety rails or a guardrail to prevent falls and injuries.

These are, in most cases, taken care of by the manufacturer for they would not want to be sued if children fell off the bed and hurt themselves in an accident. But besides these two measures, there are plenty of bad things that could trap your children out there and you should have them prepared for any eventuality.

1. Strangers are dangerous -- teach your children at a young age that strangers are always a no-no. Ask them never to indulge in conversation with anyone when traveling even if the travel is only from school to home and back. Ask your children to always be aware of their surroundings, and especially notice people who hang around doing nothing.

2. Opening the door to people is dangerous -- when left at home teenagers often are too curious not to open the door. If they are stalked, opening the door would invite the thieves in or worse. Ensure that they know how to put in the safety chain and use it. Better still, install a remote two-way communication system so you could see and talk with whoever drops by without the need to open the door.

3. Keeping secrets is bad -- teach your children from as early as possible that they should never keep a secret from you. The moment someone says, 'This would be our little secret', they should immediately tell you. This is very important because most child sexual abuse starts this way.

4. Drugs and other addictions -- teach your children to say 'no' to drugs and other type of intoxicants. Cigarettes too should be on the list of 'no' items. Let them know from a very early age why drugs and cigarettes should be avoided at all costs. Stress the fact that for most addicts, 'just one puff' was enough to destroy them. Tell them to say 'no' from the beginning and say it loudly and firmly.

5. Drugged items -- teach your children not only not to speak with strangers, but also never take any kind of food or candy from them because the food may be contaminated and would land the children in trouble.

There are many more things that could endanger your children at home and while commuting; you might not be able to think of everything. But you can definitely teach your children to be alert and stay in touch with you all the time. Thanks to cell phones, this is not a problem any longer. Also teach them to tune themselves to their gut feelings and how to act on it. If they learn to do just this one thing, you can be sure they will remain safe.
