Mailing lists can be used to focus in on perspective clients who are interested in the product and/or service that you are selling. However, it's not a case of "one size fits all." Different lists would be apropos for different businesses. For example, if your business sells relatively affordable items then you would not necessarily need to rent a mailing list that had the names, addresses, phone numbers, etc, of high-income individuals and their families. However, if your company is in an area of the market that requires a substantial investment, such as real estate, then you will probably want to rent a list of higher income individuals that could include doctors, attorneys, the CEOs and Presidents of large businesses, etc. If you are offering a high-end product or service your mailing list will only be as good as the quality of the people whose names are on your list. If you are a direct marketing practitioner and have access to high quality leads of physicians and you have a product or service that they would be interested in then when you use that list you may feel like you are "printing money" whenever you contact them. The names, addresses, and phone numbers of doctors can almost ensure you that you will get good returns on your investment in that list. This niche is made up of people who are not only financially viable, they are also in need of both specialized as well as general products and services. Simply stated, doctors are the epitome of a targeted market. They are people that are usually wealthy and intelligent. And if you have the products or services that could help them perform their professional duties - software, medical supplies, literature, office items, and medical equipment as well as more common consumer commodities - then you should seriously consider renting such a list. The challenge is that lists that contain information about medical practitioners aren't readily available. In order to get the information you need you will have to either have the expertise to find the source and then secure reliable information about them, or you will need to find a person or a company that could do that for you. How to Get Highly Targeted Mailing Lists When renting a mailing list of doctors you can determine the quality of the leads by narrowing down the characteristics and factors involved. For example, in addition to the common demographics - age, gender, geographic location, annual income, etc - you can focus on the years in practice, the area of specialization, their association memberships, and more. So, if you want a list that you can market prime real estate to you may want to rent lists of young doctors who haven't been practicing very long. It is more likely that they will invest in properties than would well-established medical practitioners who would probably be more interested in leisure activities. In order to get a highly targeted mailing list, such as one for physicians, you should rent your list from a well established, well respected mailing list broker that offers specialized mailing lists.
