There are a variety of treatments that concentrate on developing formative skills As abused and neglected children are known to become delinquent, they need to be treated with this aspect in mind. Many treatments focus on developing skills like coping, which are formative and should have been developed while the youth were young. Basically, the purpose of this therapy is to re-parent the youngster. Programs that are family-oriented produce more beneficial, effective results than boot camps Boot camp facilities are a standard choice for rehabilitating young offenders. Sending teenagers to boot camp has not proven to be an effective means of resolving their problems. Also, according to research, family-centered treatments are proving to be more effective compared to boot camps in the long run. In addition, the experience at boot camps has been found to be traumatic. A need exists to integrate mental health therapy into today's treatment system An overwhelming majority of youthful offenders come from traumatic backgrounds or have witnessed a violent episode where someone has been injured or killed, according to a 2010 report from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. Such inhuman treatment meted out to youth proves the need for psychological treatment to become an integral part of juvenile justice system. The study also suggests that substance abuse counseling should be an additional focus of improvement within the system. Juvenile delinquency treatments should be constantly improved to address the different needs of juvenile offenders more effectively.
