How You Can Turn Your Wedding Reception Into Something Special

It can take months or years to plan a wedding reception and if you are going to invest that much time, you want it to be memorable. Unfortunately, even some of the best wedding receptions are forgotten shortly after the guests return home and their cake has been eaten. The bride and groom will remember it forever and will be able to look back at pictures to enjoy their special memories. However, if you are not part of the immediate experience, there is a good chance your memories will fade. Many brides want their weddings to stand out so when guests attend receptions in the future, theirs is held as the standard for how a reception should be. This takes a great deal of creativity and effort, but it can certainly be accomplished. If you are looking for ways to turn your wedding reception into something special for everyone in attendance, consider providing keepsakes people can take home with them. Put items like gift cards, picture frames, and edible items into personalized gift bags or decorated paper bags and send your guests off with extra special wedding favors.

Another way to send guests home with something memorable is to provide them with boxes filled with candy. Instead of just using the usual Jordan almonds with a candy coating to complement your wedding colors, offer candy people will love. You can create boxes filled with personalized chocolates or candy with your initials or wedding date. If you know your guests will truly love candy, create an entire candy bar where they can fill containers with all of their favorite treats. When creating your candy bar, be sure to stick with a theme like classic candy or candy in shades of your wedding colors. Do not forget treats like lollipops and cotton candy to make things really stand out.

If you want to truly capture your wedding memories on film, you cannot expect your professional photographer to be everywhere at once. Provide reception guests will disposable cameras and encourage them to take photos. This way you will capture intimate moments that would otherwise be forgotten.

Many people create programs for their wedding ceremony, but if you really want your reception to stand out, create them for the after-party too. You can dedicate songs to special people, list reasons for choosing certain music, or just share special stories about your time together as a couple. Liven up the programs with plenty of colorful images and pictures of the two of you together.

Finally, make the musical selections at your wedding something special and send home your guests with CDs featuring the songs you chose. You can combine these CDs with the programs or just use the CD to tell the story of your relationship. Include a song that was special when you first met, as well as your wedding song, or just feature songs from each of the years the two of you have been a couple. Everyone loves music and if you share a CD of your special songs with your guests, they are sure to think of your reception every time they listen.
