Kids love to drink soda. In fact, an alarming rate of 40 percent of kids aged 2 to 11 and 62 percent of teenagers aged 12 to 18 drink more than one soda can per day. With all the harmful chemicals and ingredients found in sodas such as sugar, caffeine, acid, additives, and preservatives, these beverages are obviously harmful to your kid's health. This is why it is crucial that you help your kid cut down on his soda consumption. While this may not be easy at first, especially if your kid has already gotten used to it and due to the fact that soda contains addictive chemical, caffeine, it can be accomplished with patience and determination, and of course, a few tricks up your sleeve.

One good way to do this is to offer your kid with soda alternatives that are healthier but at the same time, just as great in terms of taste. Here are some options that you should try out.

Fruit Drinks There are various kinds of fruit drinks that you can use in lieu of soda. For one, you can serve your kid with fruit juices made from freshly squeezed fruits like orange, pineapple, apple, grape, blackberry, blue berry, and so many more. These fruit juices are great for your kid's health because they are rich in vitamins and packed with antioxidants. For a much thrilling alternative, you can also opt for fruit shakes, fruit fizzies, fruit smoothies, and fruit tea coolers. All these are much healthier compared to sodas. And because there are so many fruits out there, you will never run out of flavors to serve your kid with. You can even experiment and explore combinations like apple and banana or pineapple and orange. The possibilities are countless!

Soda Water Quitting on soda may not be as easy as you would like to think. At some point, your kid will miss the fizz of the soda. When this happens, you can serve soda water as substitute for the water. Soda water is healthier. You can even make your own. All you have to do is to buy soda chargers, which are available online. Remember, when your kid craved for desserts all the time that you decided to buy your own cream dispenser so he would only get to eat healthy kinds of desserts? It is like that. Only now, you're going to make your own soda.

Milk and Dark Chocolate Shakes Speaking of desserts, if your kid has a sweet tooth, he probably loves soda because of the sweet taste. If this is the case, you can give your kid milk or dark chocolate milk shakes, which offer the same heavenly goodness but are healthier because they don't have the chemicals found in soda. Milk shake is high in calcium which is beneficial to your kid's dental health and bone development. Dark chocolate beverage meanwhile is high in antioxidants that can also contribute positively to your kid's health.

Giving up soda is not impossible if you present these delicious and healthy alternatives to your little one.
