There are a number of ways to heat a house. Some are more costly, others more energy consuming, but with so many options available you should be able to find one that suits your taste and budget. Here are a few common ways to heat a home. 1. Central Heating: A central heating system provides heat to an entire building from one point to multiple rooms. The most common method of heat generation involves the combustion of fossil fuel in a furnace or boiler. The heat then gets distributed through a ductwork or by water circulation. Increasingly, buildings are using solar panels to generate heat in a natural, environmentally friendly way. 2. Underfloor Heating: As the name suggests, underfloor heating heats a room from the floor up. It is an ideal solution for kitchens, bathrooms, or any other room in the house where there are cold tiles on the floor. Of course, underfloor heating can also be built under carpeted, wooden, or other types of floors. An advantage is warm feet and more open space. A disadvantage however, is price. Because underfloor heating uses electricity instead of wet systems, it is more expensive. 3. Radiators: Most people think of radiators as being invasive and eye-sores. However, nowadays it is possible to get practical and designer radiators. For instance bathroom radiators now come as towel rails. Not only do they warm the room, but they warm your towels, so that you can wrap yourself in something warm and cozy when you get out of the shower. 4. Fires: It may be old fashioned, but there is nothing more beautiful or inviting then curling up in front of a big fire on a cold, rainy day. And if your house doesn't have a chimney you can get a balanced flue. Balanced flues are sealed at the front so that the gases don't escape the room. 5. Portable heaters: For those times when you need to carry your heat with you. Electric heaters are completely energy efficient as none of the energy escapes. For real heat however, you might want to buy something that can be plugged into the wall. Lots of individuals, companies and now governments are starting to do their part to reduce energy consumption and find natural ways to heat a house and water. Turning down your thermostat, getting a more efficient boiler, and installing good insulation help cut your carbon emissions as well as your fuel bills.
