Internet Home Businesses - Advantages and Disadvantages of Paid and Free Advertising

I am sure you are well aware of the fact that you need traffic in order to build a successful home business on the internet. To get that traffic, you need to advertise your business. A good thing about internet is that you do not necessarily need a lot of money to do that. In this article we will talk about advertising generally, and should you use free or paid methods to get most out of your internet marketing efforts.

What you will quickly learn is there is a plethora of different free advertising methods available for internet home business owners today. It is becoming easier and easier to great contacts on the internet. This certainly makes free advertising appealing considering more and more people are turning to social network sites like Facebook and Twitter to promote their site.

The obvious benefit of free advertising is that it will not cost you a penny. Social networking has quickly become a prime example of how who you know can be more beneficial than what you know. This has made it possible easily to meet people, get to know them, and maybe help them to solve some problem they have. This is an excellent opportunity to gain trust... and make money.

Another benefit to free advertising is that you do not have to save money up every time you want to promote the business. You can just go to some targeted forum and make a comment, or submit an article to some free article directory. On your side of the table, there is no waiting around to get out and market.

One disadvantage of free advertising is that you cannot expect fast results. It has been said in the past that someone needs to see something four or five times before they will actually look at it and acknowledge what the message is. Even though social media has done this a little bit easier, investing some money for your marketing can be profitable a little faster.

Also, if you use paid advertising you can determine who sees your advertisement and who doesn't. For example, if you use Google Adwords (Google's advertisement program) you can be sure that people who see your ad are targeted, and they are looking for a product or information you offer. Not only this, but that thousands of people will see it. When you are using free advertising methods, there is no guarantee how many people you reach every day.

The best solution, if possible, is to do a little of both. However, if you are not willing to pay for your advertisement at first, remember that there are numerous ways available on the internet today you can use with absolutely zero costs.
