Suomy Sportbike Motorcycle Helmets Review

By : Cedric Welsch

Suomy sportbike motorcycle helmets first debuted in 1998 when the company sponsored Troy Corser. Andrea Bartolini, a World MX star, won the 500cc World Championship in 1999 rocketing the helmet-maker to the top of the line. Thereafter, Suomy outfitted more world class riders making their lids the motorcycle enthusiast's number one must-have in innovative protective gear. Twelve years later, Suomy continues to beat the competition with forward-thinking technological improvements in safety and comfort.

The Department of Transportation and British Standards Institute approve Suomy sportbike motorcycle helmets. Many experts consider the BSI European rating the best and Suomy lids are accepted by all U.S. racing organizations. Ducati factory riders wear these helmets exclusively. It is no wonder with the numerous cool features these lids sport, such as ram air intake for maximum cooling that can be closed when the temperature dips. An air wedge diffuser on top combined with the ram air intake channels warm air up and out of the top while minimizing helmet lift. The shell is made with a fiber weave blend of sound-absorbing polymers and structurally enhanced composite. The EPS lining has crush-resistant zones and the fabric liner is made of soft, moisture-wicking Alcantara for comfort and quality. The liner and cheek pads can be changed for a custom fit and remove for easy washing. The translucent face shield has a special hydrophobic coating so water rolls off easily, an anti-IR coating to block heat, and an anti-fog coating prevents moisture buildup. The shield also has a safety lock system.

These lids rock with many more cool features such as ear cavities to accommodate communicator speakers, removable breath deflector, and an oversized cervical neck roll. The double D-ring strap has an anti-flutter loop to end that annoying distraction. Suomy is known for its amazing graphics with aggressive designs that are finished with a superior clear-coat. Many custom painted lids do not look half as good as Suomy's off-the-shelf helmets. Their stylish graphics will impress everyone on the road or track. The number one priority for Suomy's engineers has always been to design lids with state of the art safety features while still providing comfort with some of the lightest race-approved helmets on the market. There is an excellent selection of 2010 models from which to choose to fit individual needs. Suomy sportbike motorcycle helmets are perfect for urban riders, sport tourers, and sport riders on the road or off.
