For inch dimensions, they are available starting at 1/4 inch in diameter with leads starting from 1/10 inch to 1 inch. Some other choices available also include the length of the screw, preload nuts, various materials, and other special construction.

Because they are more concerned with efficiency, accuracy, reliability, and performance, medical and laboratory applications feel the extra price paid for ball screws is worth it. Over time, it will be possible to conserve costs on screw repair and upkeep.
