Benefits of L-Carnitine

L Carnitine is a very interesting chemical that's grouped together with the essential amino acids the body needs, but L Carnitine benefits are different from those of many other amino acids. L Carnitine is in the spotlight as a supplement because of one very important distinction. At the cellular level, L Carnitine is responsible for the utilization of fat for energy inside the cell. The mitochondria are the cells energy producing plants, and L Carnitine is the transport system that brings fats to the mitochondria to produce energy.

The cell is a very complex machine and can use different forms of energy depending on the chemicals present. Adrenaline, for example, when released into the body, triggers the cell to quickly burn its stores of sugar for a quick burst of energy. Other compounds and chemicals trigger different effects inside cells. L Carnitine has become a very popular chemical in recent days because of its fat burning capability. L Carnitine benefits the body greatly in that it prevents fatty buildup in critical areas like the heart, the muscles, and the skeletal system. L Carnitine is absolutely essential to healthy function and to the proper ratio of fat burning to other energy sources. Before moving on, here are a few other L Carnitine Benefits:

Has positive heart benefits
Has positive effects on diabetes
Has positive effects on male infertility
Has a positive antioxidant effect

In the realm of amino acids, there are 22 amino acids that the body needs in order to run properly. 8 of the 22 amino acids have been labeled essential amino acids since the human body isn't able to synthesize them on its own, but needs to get its supply directly from food. L Carnitine is one of the amino acids that the body is able to produce on its own, that is, as long as the other precursor chemicals are present, like Vitamin B, Vitamin C, Iron, Niacin, and others.

The question that most people ask is, does taking an L Carnitine supplement help me burn fat and lose weight? Studies show that there is in fact an increase in body fat and weight loss when L Carnitine is taken as a dietary supplement. A clinical trial of 18 subjects that were overweight showed that taking L Carnitine along with moderate amounts of exercise greatly boosts weight loss when compared with subjects who took a placebo and still did moderate exercise.

L Carnitine can be taken by itself as a supplement, and I've left you a link below to it if that's the route you choose to go. But of the 22 amino acids, 8 of which the body cannot synthesize on its own, are they all equally as valuable and important as L Carnitine? The answer is yes. Amino acids have been called the building blocks of life. Amino acids have their hand in virtually everything inside the body, and are integral to the production of thousands of chemicals in the body. To just take one over the others is kind of a waste, especially when you can easily add the rest into your diet. There are a lot of good supplements out there that have a wide range of the different amino acids the body uses.
