Everyone wants to be able to dim the lights and set the mood. Or turn on the lights and enjoy a banquet under a brass chandelier. This article will help you determine how to choose the right lights for each room in your home. 1. Foyer: There are few things that more solidly establish the kind of home one lives in than a beautiful crystal chandelier. When you choose crystal chandeliers for your foyer, an impression of elegance is immediately conveyed to all who enter. Whatever your tastes dictate, some kind of warm lighting is appropriate and necessary to the entrance of your home. 2. Kitchen: It is really nice to be able to dim the lights in your kitchen as evening progresses. But if you don't have that capability in your kitchen there are other options. Hanging a brass chandelier over your kitchen table is a great way to cast warm, soft light throughout your kitchen, and it is elegant and classy as well. 3. Living room: This is a great place for a tall floor lamp with dimming capability. Invest in a couple of nice table lamps also, and remember to pay attention to how they fit in with the rest of your decorative scheme. 4. Movie room: Here it helps to have lighting behind you and on your sides. That way you can turn on a set of lights before watching a movie, and if you're watching television you can keep both sets on. 5. Office: A green shaded legal desk lamp is a great option for your office. It is small and intimate, and will give you the perfect light by which to work. 6. Bathroom: It's nice to have a nightlight on in your bathroom, especially if you have kids. That way there are no stubbed toes from wandering around in darkness. If you're looking to redesign, your bathroom, it helps to have large bright uncovered light bulbs over your mirror so that you can see yourself when you are applying makeup or getting prepared for a night on the town. 7. Bedroom: It is important to have nice lighting in the bedroom for a number of reasons. You want your bedroom to be a place of solitude and comfort and you want lighting that reinforces that. It's a good idea also to have a couple of lamps on end tables so that you can read easily in bed. Reading in darkness is very bad for your eyes. Choose lamps that have three different settings - low, medium and bright. Candlelight is also very romantic in the bedroom, and can offer a nice fragrance. These lighting tips are a great way to add a personal flavor to your home decoration. Once you have lighting appropriate to each room in your house, you will feel much more comfortable and at ease - much more so than if you live with fluorescence.
