The 5 Best and 5 Worst Things About Your Unlocked Cellphone

Smartphones have changed the way we live. Remember what life was like before an unlocked cellphone? If you were visiting New York and wanted to make reservations for a restaurant while you were still out on the town, you had little chance of doing so. And even if you had written the number down, you would've had to use a, gulp, public phone. So while discount cell phones have revolutionized the way we live, there are also some negatives to the unlocked cellphone that should be avoided. Here they are, ladies and gentlemen, the best and worst things about your unlocked cellphone.

Worst:

1. Overhearing conversations: Just the other day a man walked into a store while noisily talking on his unlocked cellphone. He completely distracted my shopping experience and was rudely discussing how much he drank last night, what he did this morning and what his friend should do about his girlfriend. He went back outside to finish his conversation and I loudly pronounced how rude he was. Whether or not he heard me, when he came back in, he was off it and more mild-mannered. Don't imitate him.

2. Texting: The head down text back on your discount cell phones is not a good thing, especially if you are talking to someone and in the middle of their sentence whip out your phone to respond to a text. Also, as convenient as it is, it's much less personal to break up with someone via SMS.

3. Headphones: Now people can turn up the volume all the way on their unlocked cellphone and their iPods. But remember, only you should be able to hear the music streaming from your unlocked cellphone.

Best:

1. Apps: Using the hundreds of thousands of apps to access information, play games and communicate more efficiently makes smartphones revolutionary in their purposes.

2. Texting: Running late? Shoot your friend a text. In a movie? Tell your girlfriend without leaving the theatre. Texting has had such a large influence on society because of how much easier it has made communication.

3. The List goes on and on: You can watch TV, video; listen to music, read websites, newspapers, record a conversation, review notes, check email, chat, take pictures, record video, edit documents, call friends, share internet connection, use GPS, read an eBook, translate languages, scan, fax; check the weather, your flight status, the score of the game; search, get a finger workout, have an alarm clock, keep contacts and schedules, and a host of other things.

As you can see, before a cheap unlocked cell phone, the most simple activities required luxurious services or were impossibilities altogether. Today these services are available for everyone. All it takes is an unlocked cellphone
