Go back a few decades and you'll find the most "extreme" of sports was junior high students playing dodge-ball in the school cafeteria. But like Bob Dylan said, the times they are a-changin. Nowadays, sporting events are so extreme we have an entire tournament dedicated to them, The X-Games, which has become a commercial annual sports event and now even boasts a Winter tournament, an Asian tournament, and a Europe tournament. Unquestionably, our sports stars are getting more and more extreme. Even our traditional sports have gotten a little more "extreme." The National Football League recently sent a video highlighting legal-and-illegal hits dished out by defenders in an effort to take the "extreme-ness" out of the game, making it more safe. However, the scariest of extreme sports has to be, and will remain until further notice, "Under Ice Hockey." A recent Youtube sensation with footage from a match in Weissensee, Austria, "Under Ice Hockey" is an extreme sport that undoubtedly requires quite a few Invicta Subaqua watches. Under Ice Hockey, alledgedely, is the new craze among free divers as well as all extreme sports enthusiasts. And while Invicta Subaqua has yet to become an official sponsor, we can't think of anyone else who would qualify so perfectly. The "sport" is literally played in a body of water that has been covered in ice. Like traditional hockey, a puck is placed on the ice (only in this case, it's actually under the ice) and players use sticks to try to get it into a goal. However, while the divers are hopefully wearing Invicta Subaqua timepieces, they are not equipped with oxygen tanks, and therefore are required to go up for air approximately every thiry seconds. And anyone who has played an extreme sport will tell you how hard keeping track of time is, making that Invicta Subaqua even more vital. One of the biggest problems facing the sport currently is live viewing. Since the entire sport takes place in a natural body of water UNDER a thick sheet of ice, it is impossible for fans on top to see the action. Officials have set up underwater cameras, and the live action of Under Ice Hockey is pumped into monitors right above the ice. That being said, if the sport is able to garner enough popularity, players and teams may decide to create an artificial environment that would allow fans to watch the match right in front of them, rather than on a monitor.
