Don't Forget to Pack Your Surecare: Traveling With Incontinence

If you suffer from urinary incontinence, you may feel like the things you can do and enjoy are limited, especially when it comes to traveling and vacationing. That simply isn't true! Just because you have incontinence issues doesn't mean that you're confined to your house or anywhere with an easily accessible toilet. Don't let your urinary incontinence keep you from enjoying life. Everyone needs a vacation, a chance to get away from it all. And even though you can't get away from your incontinence problems, you can develop a plan of attack that makes it easier to deal with. Here are a few tips to help you get your incontinence under control while you're hitting the road or the skies en route to your vacation.

1) The first thing you should before embarking on a trip is pack a travel bag full of your preferred incontinence products. Depends, Attends, Tranquility, Surecare--bring them all, and more than enough to last you for the duration of your trip. You should prepare for the possibility that there isn't a place in your destination that sells these products. You don't want to run out in the middle of your trip.

2) If you're going to be driving to get to your vacation destination, you should think about your route. You should plan it out so that there are many places to stop along the way. Having a GPS on hand would prove to be quite helpful, as they tend to display restaurants, gas stations, rest stops, etc.

3) If you're going to be flying, make sure you pick an aisle seat, towards the rear of the plan where the bathrooms are located. This way, you will have a much easier time getting to the bathroom, without having to crawl over people and walk way out of your way. Same goes for train travel, although when booking your train seat, you may not be able to select your seat like you would for an airplane, but ask a ticketing agent if you can be seated on the aisle, close to the bathroom.

4) Pack a travel kit. You kit should include the following:

-The aforementioned Tranquility/Surecare pads and liners

-Wipes and antibacterial cleansing products

-Extra undergarments, pants and outer clothes

-Travel bars of soap

-Plastic freezer bags to place any soiled clothing in.

You should place these items into a small backpack that you can easily carry on with your on the plane, train, or automobile.

5) When you've made it to your vacation destination, and are sightseeing or hitting the town, be sure to plan bathroom breaks accordingly. When you're visiting tourist attractions, get maps so you can get good visual of where the closest restrooms are.

All in all, you don't have to let incontinence weigh your down and keep you from enjoying one of life's greatest pleasures: traveling. Best of luck with your travels and have a great time!
