The key to any entrepreneurs success is knowing how to set up a home business and keep it running smoothly. This may be the last thing you are worried about learning right now, but it really should be the first. If you don't keep your business organized, then you will lack focus. You will sacrifice earning potential without focus. Right now, I am sure that you want to start making money as soon as possible, so let's get busy. 1) Create a working space in your home that you can call your own. You really don't need a lot of room. It can be anything from a spare bedroom, a corner of the living room to the kitchen table. You just need to have enough of an area to designate your working area. 2) Stock your working space with plenty of materials. You need to have easy access to all of your tools, materials, and other resources that you need. Keeping everything gathered close by will prevent you from wasting precious time searching for what you need. Mastering this step alone may help you manage your time better and contribute to a more productive work environment. 3) Set your working hours. What days and hours will you work? Define when your working time will be, put it in your schedule and take action. 4) Learn to balance planning with action. Don't make the mistake of taking action without proper planning. Good planning will help you prioritize your tasks and get the most leverage out of your working hours. The best way to do this is to plan your next immediate goals and then break these goals down into action steps. Now, you have created a step-by-step action plan that will help you work efficiently and stay focused. 5) Make connections. One of the fastest ways to grow any business is to network with other people. Share your passion and enthusiasm with others every chance you get. Tell people who you are and what you have to offer. Be friendly and personable. People like buying from other people, not computers or static websites. 6) Keep your business professional. Set up a separate bank account for your business. Start a separate phone and fax line if communicating with your customers frequently is important. If you advertise by distributing materials, create professional marketing information. 7) Put your business on automatic pilot as much as possible. Most people just starting a business are unable to do this. At first, your business will just be you and it is you that must take care of everything. As you business picks up in sales and traffic, try to set up automatic systems for certain tasks. This will free up your time to concentrate on the most profitable details that only you can do. Now that you know how to set up a home business, the rest will fall into place nicely. Go ahead and get yourself organized. You will now be ready to make your dreams come true!
