A common thought about offices is that they are boring, drab and meant to suck the fun out of life. Unfortunately, a lot of times this is true -- but it doesn't have to be. Just because it's an office doesn't mean you can't throw a lounge sofa in there for guests to relax -- or you to take a little catnap during lunch -- on. Take a look at some of these amazing offices that you should definitely be jealous of, and then a few tips on how to spruce yours up and make it a little cooler.
-Pixar
Pixar has produced some amazing films, including the Toy Story series, Finding Nemo, WALL-E, and Up, so it's no wonder that its offices are equally amazing. A game room, kitchen that supplies over a dozen types of cereal (amongst other things), a screening room, life-size sculptures of their characters and a pool -- well, that's not even the beginning. The actual offices, where people do, you know, work, are made up of pods and little houses.
-Red Bull London
This one is really only awesome because there's a slide people can take to get from floor-to-floor. The offices themselves are extremely sleek, chic and Red Bull-themed, and their conference room doubles as a ping-pong court.
-Netflix
Netflix, like Pixar, has its own movie theater as well, with lounge-style seating that, given the right movie, could easily lull people to sleep. Company naptime anyone? They also have movie-themed conference rooms, and one can only wonders what goes on in The Matrix room.
-Etsy
Etsy's offices are much like Etsy itself: a hodgepodge of designs all thrown into one place. Basically, it's really cute and cozy and will probably make you want to start doing crafts and trying on vintage clothes.
-Facebook
Facebook's headquarters actually moved last year, to a 150,000-square-foot warehouse, so it makes sense that they have a kind of modern industrial theme going on. These particular offices are especially cool because the design team consulted with employees to find out what kind of atmosphere they wanted to work in, and "neighborhoods" were created within the building based on the different departments and their needs. Plus, employees are apparently encouraged to write on the walls and move around furniture.
-Honorable mention: Digg
Digg's offices aren't actually that special. However, they get points because they have a very appropriately-named arcade game called Dig Dug.
While you're probably not going to be able to finagle a slide or a movie theater into your office, that doesn't mean the space has to make you sigh with regret every time you walk in. Go to some decorating stores or even a few consignment shops and look for fun art and accessories to put up around your office. As mentioned before, find a colorful, comfy lounge sofa, or replace your executive desk chair with a Lafer recliner -- they come in lots of great hues.
