Why You Should Do a Yoga Holiday

We all know the benefits of yoga, but why not spoil yourself and take it a step further. Visit a yoga retreat and feel the true benefits of this popular exercise form.

A yoga retreat weekend may be just what you need. Imagine wearing your yoga gear on the wooden deck of a luxury tented camp, with some wildlife standing at the water hole a couple of meters away. As you go into your warrior II position, your mind is still on your task list, and you suddenly become aware of the breeze on your bare arms and the call of the wild. Your office suddenly seems a thousand miles away, as you focus your senses to the tasks at hand.

Suddenly as you begin to relax, you are able to sink even deeper into your yoga pose than you ever normally do in class. You will feel great and totally in tune with your body for the rest of the yoga session.

There are 219 000 search results for the word 'yoga retreat' on Google. Here you will find everything from a mini weekend break away for beginners to an advanced Ashtanga retreat in India. There are many forms of yoga and many different retreats to choose from to suit your personality.

If you take your yoga seriously, try a raja retreat, and perfect the art of meditation. If you are still a beginner and just want to get away to relax for the weekend, you should be able to find yourself a yoga and surf weekend for a combination of fun and relaxation.

By going on a yoga retreat, you will be able to totally relax and reconnect with your true self. It is important to also focus your weekend on eating healthily for maximum benefits. De stressing will happen with all the yoga movements and breathing exercises, and a weekend retreat may be just what you need.

Here are some ways in which you can get the most out of your yoga retreat.
1. Avoid caffeine for a week before you go away. As yoga postures work to detox and purify the body, it will be a lot easier on your body if it doesn't have to struggle with removing too many toxins.
2. Leave your phone behind, or turn it off. You won't miss it for one weekend, I promise.
3. Try going alone and make it a real 'me' weekend. You will meet loads of like minded individuals while there anyway.
4. Flush out toxins by drinking lots of water.
5. Take your own yoga mat with you, as it makes the journey a more personal one if you have your own.
6. Take this opportunity to improve on your yoga skills by asking lots of questions.

Why are you still reading this? Get out there and enjoy your retreat.
