Get Old Memories Talking By Using A Scrapbook

It is always fun to travel down the memory lane with your grandparents or any other elderly relative. You might have fun sitting around the fireplace on cold nights and enjoying the past as they tell it you. They may show some senior pictures taken by a photographer. You cannot deny that it is always exciting to look at them.

Each picture has a story behind it. Old photos are best enjoyed when you are seeing them with someone elderly, because they always have those behind-the-picture stories in their minds that they love to share. But, what are you going to do when they are not there?

Well, the key is to organize these old photos. The best way to do this is to make a scrapbook and add stories with the description that elder relatives tell you. Not only is this a creative idea to preserve old memories, but it is also a great way to make the younger generation enthusiastic about knowing their family's past.

Before you get started, select the materials you need. Try to select those photos that include most of your family members. Group photos are an ideal choice. Likewise, include those photos that have a story, an interesting one, indeed, behind them.

Now, you need to make some notes. Follow up with your old relatives in knowing about the history behind the photos you selected. Take notes of the events that happened before, after and during the picture was being taken.

Gathering notes will be the task that will take most of your time. Do not expect it to be done with a single sitting with your grandparents! Old people love to tell stories and, not only stories, but detailed stories! You might only extract the most interesting part out of it to include in your scrapbook.

Now, be a little creative with your scrapbook. Along with the photos and notes, you also need to find some memorabilia to define the photos. This can just be anything that came along with the event that is captured. You can paste these alongside the images, and it can give a great feel to the scrapbook.

Be very choosy about the colors. Try to coordinate the colors together with the event in the picture. For instance, for a wedding picture, you might choose the colors that were used in the wedding theme, or for a Christmas party photo, you can add Christmas colors, mainly red, green and white.

Now, as you paste the pictures and little souvenirs of the events, include the small stories you made notes of. Write them down in your own style, keeping it all interesting. You might also like to add a little fun caption to the photos along with the stories. A title will also be a great idea.

Opening and going through this scrapbook will be a great source of entertainment on family events. Let all the pictures talk themselves. As you turn each page, you will experience a trip down the memory lane. Good job! You have just got some memories talking!
