Knotweed Resveratrol and the French Paradox

[Valid RSS feed]  Category Rss Feed - http://www.articlesbacklink.com/rss.php?rss=48
By : Ben Mester

Knotweed resveratrol is a potent medicinal substance that's synthesized from a plant native to Japan. It has been shown in testing to fight cancer and even possibly to prolong life, and Japanese knotweed resveratrol is among the highest in concentrations. Other sources include the famous red wine, which is very often praised, but not often consumed according to the recommended levels. Many people either have prescription medication conflicts, or just don't like the idea of having to drink a glass of wine everyday. That's why a lot of people are looking into supplements like knotweed resveratrol. In fact, many of the top resveratrol supplements are now being synthesized from the Japanese plant, and no longer from grape skins. The root of Japanese knotwood is loaded with resveratrol, and the plant in Japan is considered a weed, making it perfect for harvesting.

As will be shown further below, most of the beneficial health benefits haven't yet been substantiated in human trials. However, there exists a peculiar phenomenon known as the French Paradox, which many people claim as evidence for the efficacy of resveratrol in prolonging life. The French Paradox is the shown observation that French people suffer less instances of coronary heart disease even though they have a diet rich in saturated fats. Because of the fact that red wine is such a strong component in the French diet, the assumption is that the health properties of red wine, namely resveratrol, is one of the key factors in the French Paradox.

There are a wide range of reported benefits to knotweed resveratrol, as well as resveratrol that's found in red wine, but a lot of the claims are fairly new, so they haven't been substantiated fully. Many of the claims that resveratrol boosts longevity and the ability to fight cancer have only been substantiated in animal testing and are only currently being researched and tested on human beings. Here are a few of the many health benefits that come from resveratrol:

1. Weight Loss. Resveratrol supplements are sometimes even promoted as diet and weight loss supplements. Most of the claims of weight loss are unsubstantiated however, and are generally driver by user testimonials, which is sometimes a quicker way of finding the truth than waiting for a long study. You can read them yourself and be your own judge.

2. Cancer Fighting. Red wine is very high in antioxidants but is resveratrol by itself? The answer is yes, resveratrol is an antioxidant, making it very healthy to take in the fight against cancer.

3. Coronary Heart Disease. Resveratrol has been linked with heart health. Though much research and testing is happening even now, resveratrol has been claimed to be anti inflammatory and anti blood clotting, which can be good for the heart. The only problem is that studies are inconclusive about taking resveratrol as a supplement instead of in the red wine itself. Researchers are starting to speculate that red wine as a whole is heart healthy, not one individual component of the red wine. Even certain amounts of alcohol have been shown to be heart healthy, though doctors are understandably wary of promoting alcohol. So results are definitely inconclusive as to whether a knotweed resveratrol supplement is heart healthy like a glass of red wine seems to be.
