If you have a website, you've probably heard of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), a marketing technique to increase page rankings on Google, Yahoo!, Bing, and other search engines. In this article, we're going to discuss how you can use website SEO to create the perfect page. For explanatory purposes, we'll use an example keyphrase: "diamond jewelry." Step One: Page URL Customizing your URL is an easy way to enhance your onpage SEO plan. For our keyphrase, the ideal page would be www.yourdomain.com/diamond-jewelry.html or /diamond-jewelry.php. Step Two: Meta Title The Meta Title of your page is the title that shows up in users' browser windows -- and in the search results pages of most major engines. For the best search engine optimization, use a title involving both your company name and your keyphrase, such as "Joe's Jewelry | Diamond Jewelry." Step Three: Meta Description Similar to the Meta Title, the Meta Description of your page will show up on many search results pages and helps services like Google determine the content of your page. Ideally, you want your Meta Description to be readable to humans and to enhance your onpage SEO plan. Try to limit yourself to 160 characters, as this is the maximum amount allowed in Google search results. For example: "Joe's Jewelry offers an affordable selection of diamond jewelry for men and women, including rings, pendants, bracelets, and earrings." Step Four: Header Text Now it's time to create the visible title of your page. This title should focus on your keyphrase, while also mentioning the name of your business. For example: "Diamond Jewelry from Joe's Jewelry." To denote this line as the title of your page, surround it by H1 HTML tags. Step Five: Body Text To maximize your search engine optimization, include 200 to 300 words of unique body text on every page. Include your keyphrase two or three times, without "stuffing" it in so the wording sounds unnatural. This has to appeal to people too! Step Six: Images Try to include at least one image on every page. The image file name should include your keyphrase, like diamond-jewelry.jpg, with the "Diamond Jewelry" alt attribute added to your HTML. For best results, make sure your picture depicts an image relevant to your keyphrase. With these tips, you should be all set to enhance your website with search engine optimization. Use this knowledge to enhance not just your homepage, but also sub directories as well, thus improving the website SEO of your entire domain.
