Beware Of An Angry Snarl -- Ways To Prevent Dog Bite

One of the scariest encounters that one could ever have is that with an aggressive dog running after you. Ever gone through a panic fit where your legs simply fail to respond, and you are eyed suspiciously or perhaps mockingly by onlookers as you run savagely through the streets to save yourself? Possibly, you can protect yourself by jumping over a vinyl fence. But there are some breeds of dogs that are capable of jumping over high fences. Well in that case, you will have to rely on your running skills because short vinyl fencing cannot protect you.

Surprisingly, it is quite possible to prevent dog bites only if the dog owners know how to take care of their dogs. And the potential victims know how to behave around the dogs. Here are a couple of instructions for all those who do not:

* Just assure yourself that a dog is adorable only when it is at a distance. You want to pet them, but think twice before doing it as it might be the last thing you ever did. Every dog is not comfortable around strangers. Never attempt to pet a dog without the permission of the owner as the dog might simply respond by attacking you.

* Moreover, dogs are really possessive about their territory. Entering any such space is like asking the dog to come and bite you.

* It is sheer foolishness to run away from a dog especially the one that is snarling at you. Turning your back upon such a dog is like adding fuel to a dog's instinct to chase his prey. And obviously, you do not want to become his prey. So remain calm and walk away slowly when you come across a dog.

* Dogs that do not want you around will tell you their wish. A dog that growls at your site, surely does not like your presence. So it is best to keep away from an angry dog.

* Do not ever do the mistake of looking directly in the eyes of a dog. Any dog will take it as a challenge. And believe it or not, challenging a dog is the last thing you ever want to do.

* Some people even attempt to hug a dog which is definitely not a good idea. It is humans that we hug as a gesture of greeting. However to dogs, you are giving a completely different signal by hugging them. The only reaction that you can get can be a bite or nip from it. In order to show politeness to a friendly dog, you can just stroke under its chin.

* Also, keep away from dogs that are lying fast asleep. They do not like to be disturbed in their sleep. Besides, a dog that is feeding, or chewing a bone will surely get irritated if you disturb it.

Getting bitten by a dog is certainly a painful experience and if you do not wish to go through that agony, then it is better to prepare yourself for it.
