Anxiety is a psychological problem that affects many people all over the world. It affects the daily activities of a person and this can grow worse if treatment is not administered. There are times when a person worries about the different aspects in his life such as career, family, relationship, and social relations and this is perfectly normal. However, there are some people who worry so much to the point that they feel choked up by their problems. They fail to think and act properly and this is already a sign that this is an anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorders are usually treated through joining anxiety support groups.

Anxiety disorders can affect people regardless of age, gender, or social class but this condition is common among adults. This is because older people balance so many things in their life unlike younger people. The common types of anxiety problems are phobias, panic disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and post traumatic stress disorder (PST). Phobias are irrational fears caused by a thing, a place, or a situation. Some people fear social interactions and think that they are constantly watched by people so they become more conscious of their actions. They stay clear of places with too many people as a way to prevent being embarrassed publicly.

The connection between panic disorders and phobias is that panic disorders are induced by overwhelming fear. People who are having anxiety attacks usually behave uncontrollably and they fail to think and act logically. The only thing that they think about is how to get out of the situation. One of the phobia that is commonly linked to panic disorders is agoraphobia or the fear of public places. Panic disorder sufferers experience this frequently as they fear an attack might occur. When a panic attack happens outside the house, the person becomes humiliated and avoids going out of the house again. His social interactions are affected and he finds it hard to deal with other people. He may also lose his self confidence.

Treatment is crucial since panic disorders greatly impact on a person's life. To help the sufferer receive treatment successfully, his or her loved ones can act as anxiety support groups. In OCD, the person feels extremely obsessive of something and they usually have the compulsion to do something in order to relieve them of the obsessive feeling. People with this kind of panic disorder have repetitive actions that in the long run become senseless. PST is often encountered by people who have experienced a tragic event in their life. The person can have recurring recollections of the events that worry them. This makes the person to feel constant fear.

In order to treat these panic disorders, prescription medicine are given by psychologists. They can also encourage their patients to join anxiety support groups where other anxiety disorder sufferers share their stories and former sufferers give advice on how to treat the disorder.
