Seven Pieces of Furniture You Need When You're Expecting

Babies are so special. They're small and cute and they need your love and affection to live and grow. But before they enter the world, you need to be prepared. Read on to see what furniture you need for your baby.

1. Baby Cradle or Bassinet: For your infant, you will need a small crib with infant crib bedding. He or she will sleep here for at least the first four months. When baby is big enough to roll around he can upgrade to a larger crib. Buy at least 2 infant bedding sets so that if the baby has an accident or burps up, you can easily change the crib to be clean. Some cradles come with little mattresses, bumpers, and infant bedding sets.

2. Crib: You don't want the crib release mechanisms to be too easy to undo or else baby could learn how. The wheels of the crib should lock. Remember to choose infant crib bedding that fits snugly up against the bars of the crib. It's a good idea to have a plastic cover for the mattress in case of accidents.

3. Changing Table: This piece of furniture will make it much easier on your back when you're changing baby. It's nice to have a table that comes complete with drawers for diapers. You should also be on the lookout for one with guard rails to prevent rolling and maybe even safety straps.

4. Rocking Chair: It helps to have a big comfortable chair to sit in while you nurse. The rocking motion helps baby fall asleep if she's crying. For many the rocking chair is necessary, for others it's superfluous.

5. Stroller: It's important to have a nice stroller, preferably one that allows the baby to face you so he can absorb more readily what you say to him. A mother's face and voice are soothing and will help baby to sleep. Too many strollers look like small airplanes; you should choose one in the pram style for the best results.

6. High Chair: This is an indispensable piece of toddlers furniture. You will use this for at least a couple of years, so choose a good one with an adjustable tray and restraints so baby can't climb out when he gets finicky.

7. Twin Mattress: Finally when your baby is around three, it's time for childrens twin bedding. Hopefully, he will want childrens twin bedding by this time and feel ready to be a big boy.

These seven pieces of furniture are very helpful while your infant grows into a toddler and then a small child. Enjoy these years, although they may make you stressed. You will never have them back. And remember, everything you do your baby picks up on, so create a safe, happy environment for a happy smart baby.
