Moving into a new home can be stressful and expensive. But you don't have to do everything at once. And everything you buy you will have for years. While it's important to find the best deals on what you want, there are also ways to save money by doing things differently. Here is an idea of what you will need to live comfortably. Other items you may want, but you can wait a couple of weeks or months for those if need be.

1. Bedroom: It's important to have a bed frame and a couple of end tables. These will anchor your bed and give you added space to hold books and tchochkes. You can buy a platform bed, especially if you don't have a box spring, or you can build your own platform from cardboard or wooden boxes. You can even use a number of crates on which to rest your bed. To hold your clothes if you have a small closet, an armoir or bureau is a great way to add some personal flavor to your bedroom.

2. Living Room: Choose a nice coffee table, a sofa or a couple of armchairs and maybe a side table or two to place a lamp next to the chairs. This will allow you to always have space to place a cup of coffee or glass of wine.

3. Office: A nice desk with chair will be a fine investment and your back will thank you. This is also a good place to put a bookshelf, which you can buy or build yourself if you're feeling handy. All it takes is a beam of wood, a few brackets, some screws and a screwdriver .

4. Kitchen: You need some basic pieces of furniture in your kitchen. But where to find them? You might do well to shop for restaurant furniture. Restaurant tables you can buy in one piece or you can mix and match them. After that you can buy restaurant chairs made of wood or aluminum. Aluminum chairs are very comfortable and can be more affordable than wood ones.

5. Pantry: You may have a pantry or you may not, but in any case, you'll need space to store your food as well as pots and pans. You can buy a kitchen counter piece of furniture to store your stuff or you can do like your office and build some floating shelves. Either way you can make use of your empty kitchen wall space.

6. Patio: If you have a patio, it's nice to have restaurant outdoor furniture so you can eat dinner or drink coffee outside on those warm summer afternoons or cool fall mornings. Aluminum chairs work especially well for the outside because you can fold them and bring them into storage during the rainy season.

You may have some other furniture necessities to fit well into your home, but these are the basics. Keep shopping and you will find deals on the items you want at the prices you need.
